Address Book for WooCommerce alternative that works in the block checkout

CrossPeak’s Address Book for WooCommerce works only in the classic checkout. Here’s how other address books compare on block support, My Account and price.

If you use CrossPeak’s Address Book for WooCommerce and want the block checkout, you need another address book, because CrossPeak’s plugin works only in the classic checkout. Unwan, Happy Coders Multi Address and Vanquish Multiple Addresses support the Checkout block and are on WordPress.org. StoreApps’ Saved Addresses supports it as a paid extension.

Does Address Book for WooCommerce work with the block checkout?

No. Its WordPress.org listing opens with a notice that it “does not currently work with the WooCommerce Block Checkout”, and its FAQ answers the question with “Not yet, but we are working on it.” The plugin declares itself incompatible with the Checkout block, so WooCommerce shows a warning in the block’s settings sidebar, with a button that switches the page back to the classic checkout.

Since WooCommerce 8.3, released in November 2023, the Cart and Checkout blocks are the default for new stores, so a store set up since then usually starts on the block checkout. Fr Address Book for WooCommerce, another address book on WordPress.org, has the same limit: its installation notes ask you to switch the checkout page back to the classic shortcode.

If your store is on the classic checkout and will stay there, you can keep CrossPeak’s plugin. It still works there, and its last update came out in April 2026.

Address Book for WooCommerce alternatives compared

We compared eight plugins that let WooCommerce customers keep more than one address, CrossPeak’s included. Four of them say they work in the Checkout block, and three can also split one order across several addresses, which is a different job from keeping an address book.

When another plugin is the better fit

Most of these plugins cover the basics: customers save addresses, manage them in My Account and pick one at checkout. Choose by what else your store needs.

  • If your staff enter orders by hand, for phone sales or wholesale clients, Address Book Pro for WooCommerce lets them pick a customer’s saved address on the new order screen and edit the customer’s book from their user profile. Vanquish’s premium edition also shows a customer’s address book on their user profile and lets staff pick a saved address when editing an order. Unwan has no address book in the admin.
  • If customers like to name their addresses, such as Home or Work, CrossPeak, Fluid Checkout, Happy Coders and Vanquish all support nicknames; Unwan doesn’t.
  • If one order has to reach several addresses, you need split shipping, which ThemeHigh, YITH and Vanquish’s premium edition offer. Unwan, CrossPeak, StoreApps and Fluid Checkout’s add-on send each order to one address. Our article on address books and split shipping explains the difference.
  • If guests should be able to add extra shipping addresses too, YITH has a setting for that. Unwan and Vanquish keep the address book for signed-in customers.
  • If your store already runs Fluid Checkout, its Address Book add-on is the natural pick, because Fluid Checkout swaps the Checkout block for its own form anyway.
  • If customers need to move addresses in or out as a file, CrossPeak and Vanquish both give customers a CSV import and export. Unwan has neither.

Where Unwan fits

Unwan, our WooCommerce address book, adds its billing and shipping pickers to the Checkout block as locked inner blocks, using WooCommerce’s own Blocks integration and Store API. They appear in the right place on their own, and nobody can delete them by accident while editing the page. The classic checkout gets the same picker above its forms, so changing checkouts later means no new setup.

Each customer keeps one list. Any saved address can be their billing default, their shipping default, both or neither, so an address used for both is stored once. In My Account, an Address book page takes the place of WooCommerce’s Addresses tab, with cards for the billing and shipping defaults at the top and every saved address in one list below. When a customer picks a saved address at checkout, it’s used for that order and their account default stays as it was.

Unwan adds no database tables and loads its scripts and styles only on the checkout and My Account pages, with no tracking or calls to outside services.

Only signed-in customers get an address book, and Unwan saves WooCommerce’s standard address fields only, so anything a checkout field editor adds stays with that plugin. There are no nicknames, no CSV import and no address book in the admin, and each order goes to one address.

Switching is mostly about checking which saved addresses come across.

How to switch from Address Book for WooCommerce to Unwan

Try this on a staging copy first if you have one. The switch itself takes a few minutes, and the test order a few more.

  1. 01

    Deactivate Address Book for WooCommerce

In Plugins, click Deactivate under Address Book for WooCommerce, so customers only ever see one address picker. Leave it installed for now in case you need to switch it back on. Its saved addresses stay in your database.

  2. 02

    Install and activate Unwan

Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin, search for Unwan Multiple Address Book, then click Install Now and Activate. Its settings are under WooCommerce → Settings → Accounts & Privacy → Unwan, and none of them has to change before customers can use it. The installation guide lists the requirements. With WP-CLI, both steps are one line:

    WP-CLI
wp plugin deactivate woo-address-book && wp plugin install unwan-for-woocommerce --activate
  3. 03

    Check which addresses carry over

Unwan reads each customer’s billing and shipping defaults from WooCommerce’s own account fields, so the address WooCommerce already holds for a customer is in their new address book straight away. Unwan doesn’t import from other plugins, so the extra addresses customers saved in CrossPeak’s book won’t appear. They can add them again in My Account → Address book, and a new address typed at checkout is saved to the book automatically unless you turn that off.

  4. 04

Move checkout to the Checkout block

Skip this if your checkout already uses blocks. Otherwise, open Pages → Checkout in the editor, select the classic checkout block and use Transform into blocks. Do the same on the cart page, because WooCommerce’s Cart and Checkout blocks are meant to be used together. Unwan’s pickers sit inside the new billing and shipping address blocks by themselves; the Checkout Blocks docs explain how.

  5. 05

    Place a test order

Sign in as a customer who has an address on file, add a product to the cart and open checkout. Their default address shows as a short summary with a Change button. Click it, choose Enter a new address, place the order, then check that the new address is in My Account → Address book and the customer’s defaults haven’t moved.
